Head Football Coach

Reports to: Athletic Director

Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: Administers the entire scope of the football program.

Under the general direction of the Athletic Director

Under the direct supervision of Associate Athletic Director

Works as needed

Principal Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

1. The primary responsibility will be to instruct the student-athlete, teach various athletic methods of success, as well as train them in the proper style. Furthermore, the coach will directly educate the student athlete on how to best succeed in their chosen athletic endeavor. In short, the head coach will be expected to instruct student-athletes how to succeed in sport and in life through techniques demonstrated, modeled, and shown in practice as well as in the classroom and in life.

2. Recruit qualified student-athletes stressing the concept of “student-athlete” first and foremost. Making retention a key to sustaining the program for future years.

3. Coordinate team travel

4. Maintain equipment and facilities

5. Implement and maintain necessary budget limitations, inventory, coordination,

management of staff, and development of the football program and fundraising.

6. Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.

7. Ensure student-athletes maintain class attendance and persist academically in pursuit of a degree.

8. Create a “culture of excellence” emphasizing dedication to character development, academic achievement, and readiness for life beyond graduation.

5 years of experience as a high school/collegiate coach

Physical Requirements:

Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).

Environmental Conditions:

Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions or undesirable elements, which may involve exposure to a variety of elements which are potentially hazardous or harmful which require exercise of well-defined precautions for protection from injury or illness.
