CAS Retention and Disability Services Coordinator

Reports to: Dean of Student Life

Status: Full Time

Location: McKenzie, TN

Purpose of Position and Scope of Responsibility: The Retention and Disability Services Coordinator works under the direction of the Dean of Student Life.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Advise and provide orientation for students receiving the Opportunity Scholarship, the Servant Leader Scholarship, and the Bethel Service Scholarship; counsel and track those students’ needs throughout the year
  2. Serve as the liaison for all at-risk students who need tutoring or other support services
  3. Assist with registration and advise undeclared majors
  4. Teach two to three DEP 050 “Academic Success Skills” courses as needed each semester
  • DEP 050 is required of students on Academic Probation and is also required of students who do not meet Regular Admission requirements
Serve on the At-Risk Committee and record minutes Assist with planning and hosting Freshman Orientation and the S.T.A.R. (Students Trained and Ready) Program Research national and regional retention trends to improve retention/graduation rates Document and communicate with students and faculty members regarding disability accommodation requests and Emotional Support Animal (ESA) requests Perform related responsibilities as required or directedThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

2 years of experience in retention-related work

5 years of experience in retention-related work

Physical Requirements:

Work requires the physical demands of standing, bending, lifting, stooping or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to 30 pounds) on an occasional basis (up to 15% of time) and frequent walking; or moderate physical exertion (up to 50 pounds) on an intermittent basis (not a routine part of the job).

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed under normal working conditions as in a standard office environment.
